OJ Mayo to Sign With the Dallas Mavericks

Its official Mavericks fans, enigmatic shooting guard OJ Mayo will sign a 2 year contract with the Dallas Mavericks.

OJ Mayo made his announcement on twitter last night beating the mainstream media to the punch.

The always fired up Mark Cuban welcomed OJ to the team with a tweet of his own.

This is a good pickup for the Mavericks, as the team and Cuban were being criticized by the media for not securing any top of the line free agents to pair with Dirk. The Mavericks were one year removed from winning the NBA Championship and it was widely viewed that Mark Cuban blew that championship team up so that they could go for another run after getting some of the marquee free agents such as Deron Williams and a possible trade for all-star center Dwight Howard.

It was a good plan on paper, but after a couple of days, all the free agents were signing elsewhere and Dwight seemed like a distant dream.

Mavericks go into gear and signed center Chris Kaman to a one year deal, while also claiming Elton Brand off waivers. By signing OJ Mayo, the team has added one more piece to the puzzle.

Will they be in Championship mode, I’m not sure about that, but it is a better look than the team they fielded last season.
